Hime-ha-chiku (Japan) * Withstands -20ºC
One of the smaller Phyllostachys. The young stems are very dark and then green in the first year; they turn orange-yellow if exposed to the sun. Dense foliage; small, sea-green leaves on the underside.
Highly vigorous, it can develop in all terrains and conditions.
Free or trimmed hedges, flowerbeds, pots.
Its weak form and dense foliage make it an excellent hedge plant. Ideal for small gardens. It is also very useful for large gardens where it can cover large spaces.
