Ougon-Hotei (Japan) *Withstands -18ºC
Identical to Phyllostachys aurea with the difference that young stems that burst pale green become progressively yellow whatever their exposure. This coloring is often brighter on stems exposed to the sun.
It grows in all conditions; withstands a relative drought without damage.
Free or trimmed hedges, bushes, edges, flowerbeds, isolated clumps.
During autumn some stems take on a surprising purple coloration.
